Most solar, battery and heat pump installers only work directly with the property owner, since panel installation, any finance agreement and the paperwork for schemes like the Smart Export Guarantee all need to be in the owner’s name. Because of that, we can’t put you forward to most of the installers in our network while you’re renting.
Who can help
Octopus Energy is currently the only provider in our network set up to work with rented properties. If you’re interested in solar as a tenant, they’re the option worth asking about.
What to do next
- Speak to your landlord first. Some are open to solar if it’s presented as a way to raise the property’s EPC rating or attract tenants, especially with EPC rules tightening for rentals.
- If your landlord is on board, contact Octopus Energy directly to see what they can offer for your property.
